tahariel: (SGA - got your six)
This weekend I have had a lovely time at [livejournal.com profile] zoeiona's Merlin-watching party at her flat in London, along with the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] wickednotevil, [livejournal.com profile] freedomdarkness, [livejournal.com profile] krazykipper, [livejournal.com profile] multiclassgeek, [livejournal.com profile] burkesl17, [livejournal.com profile] cienna, [livejournal.com profile] takadainmate, [livejournal.com profile] gnine, [livejournal.com profile] evalangui, [livejournal.com profile] nyargles and of course [livejournal.com profile] zoeiona! (There were other people there too whose lj usernames I don't know - please tell me and/or add me as required! And obviously if I've forgotten anyone please feel free to chastise me roundly!)

Much ridiculous spouting of terrible badfic was had, along with wonderful food, about a bajillion Curly Wurlys (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] freedomdarkness, whose teeth have the great misfortune of working in a sweet shop) and some real-life witch hunting, in which to be too keen was also an indication of being a witch, apparently.

I come bearing gifts: today's fic rec!

The characterisation in this fic, while humorous, is also so believable that it makes it even funnier; the childishness in how big, bad Steve behaves compared to Danny's relative maturity and patience (well, for Danny) really gives this fic a sense of the sublime in the absurd. Not only does it have a wonderful emotional weight to the relationship between the two of them, but it does so without compromising the hilarity of Steve refusing to play mini golf if he doesn't get to win.

Just Like the Saturday Morning PBS Kids Lineup by [livejournal.com profile] moonythestrals. Summary: The speed of Steve McGarrett's age regression as a function of time exposed to Danny Williams, chart to follow. Plot is tenuous, snark is aplenty.

Hey honeybunches! I am sorry it's taken me so long to post again here (as ever), but my only defence is that I have been very busy this last week, doing stuff and junk. (Yeah, that important :D)

I've been busy this week! So I'll start where I left off - my birthday party last Tuesday. )

...all this really boils down to is that I haven't done any writing for much too long, and I'm sort of making excuses with myself for being so slow. I should be faster than I am, or something - if I ever got published I would have to be faster. Which is why I've decided to void my New Year's Resolution to get the manuscript off to agents by the end of the year. I'm just not convinced that I could manage the publishing thing while trying to finish my dissertation and degree at the same time without dying of overwork. "Oh, sorry Mr Publisher, no book for you - I have to revise for my exam." So I'm going to delay until I finish university, and then - publishing time! Hopefully :D And by then I might have two books in the series, which makes people keener than just having the first book in a series, so that could help, too.

So I'm at hoooooome this weekend! Yay for home!

Birthday party details to come soon, btw, to those to whom it is relevant! So watch your email, because that is probably how I will contact you. If you have changed your main email address lately, ie the one I probably have you never check and so you will miss out on the party, then comment to this post and let me know. Even if you already told me, assume I forgot, because I am a big dork like that.

I need to write more. I also need to stop saying that I need to write more and actually write more instead of wasting time on whining like a big baby. I so envy people who have more dedication than I do to writing, and who have a constant turnout of material. You are better people than I am, and I bow down before your humbling magnificence.

Iona - I am lame and still have not posted your CDs. I am SO SORRY. It is also known as 'oh my god, just remember you need to go to the post office, dumbass!'

I want Dad to come home now from his girlfriend's, where he went to watch the rugby; I want my chinese food, dammit! Lemon chicken and egg fried rice! Yum. Now please, chop chop! (ETA: Half an hour or more later, he still isn't home... Stomach: *sobs*)

I am very random today. I blame you, gentle reader. Now go away and think about what you've done.
