tahariel: (Lurgy)

When I decided to spend today in my flat in my pyjamas doing nothing and flaking out watching movies, having a rotten cold and spending the whole night tossing and turning with two duvets on and trying to escape a stress dream where I kept trying to book tickets to the opera but my computer kept crapping out and then there weren't any but I'd promised my Dad that i'd take him was not what i had in mind.

Nonetheless, [livejournal.com profile] zoeiona and me went to the English National Opera last night (hmm, dream, I wonder where you might have come from!) to see their production of Verdi's Simon Boccanegra, which was very well staged. Unfortunately it seems as though they must have seriously abridged it, because there were these huge chunks of exposition projected onto a screen they put down whenever they were changing the set, which made it quite lurching story wise. It was worth it for £20 though, and I'd definitely go again if they do another offer like that.

Something you may not know about me: I am kinda a fan of Adam Lambert, who was the runner-up on American Idol a year or two ago. I say kinda because I don't really know a lot about him personally other than what I pick up from the RPF that I get suckered into reading by it having awesome summaries and then being really good. (Something you probably do know about me: if it has a good summary, I will read it no matter what it is, whether I know the fandom or not. I am a summary whore.)

But ANYWAY I was watching the video for If I Had You on youtube (great video, BTW, but seriously his trouser bulge is freaking enormous. I know every 'character' in fic has a giant cock, but clearly his has NOT BEEN EXAGGERATED. Anyway. About 3:20-3:40 in, for those who want to have a look!) and one of the links at the side was to Adam Lambert giving beauty tips to Bliss magazine.

He was so casual and awesome about it, it made me like him ten bazillion times more. I want more of his music now.

Have you guys seen this? It's the new Inception App for iPhone that plays you music and sounds from the film as well as new sounds and music from Hans Zimmerman and worked on by Christopher Nolan.

The description given is ""Wouldn't it be amazing if you had a soundtrack that was synchronised to your life? For example, the music would become more energetic when you moved, more calm when you sit still or even change when the sun shines."

So when I sit still it plays me a 'still dream', or it echoes my words back to me, and it's kind of surreal. Totally wicked awesome, too. Check it out if you have an iPhone (sorry to those who don't.)

Currently having a QUIET DREAM.

Some very kind people let me know that track 11 of the fanmix I posted yesterday is corrupted, so I've reuploaded the song separately. During the week I have really limited internet access, so reloading the whole mix would have been very, very difficult.

You can find the reuploaded track here, at Sendspace. If it doesn't work, please let me know. I'll also be updating the original post to include this link, and putting notes on the crosspostings.

Argh! Internet, you make me mad sometimes, corrupting my files *double facepalm*

ETA: Some very kind people let me know that track 11 of the original .zip is corrupted. Dang. I've reuploaded the song in question since my internet during the week is a bit iffy, so anyone who wants it, you can find it here. Sorry *double facepalm*

I'm currently totally in love with this song. I first heard it in an episode of House, and went online to google the lyrics and find the mp3 because it is just that beautiful. It's really... deep, and spare, and basic and beautiful. The singer is fantastic. Give it a try, huh? Right click and save as.
