tahariel: (SGA - got your six)
This weekend I have had a lovely time at [livejournal.com profile] zoeiona's Merlin-watching party at her flat in London, along with the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] wickednotevil, [livejournal.com profile] freedomdarkness, [livejournal.com profile] krazykipper, [livejournal.com profile] multiclassgeek, [livejournal.com profile] burkesl17, [livejournal.com profile] cienna, [livejournal.com profile] takadainmate, [livejournal.com profile] gnine, [livejournal.com profile] evalangui, [livejournal.com profile] nyargles and of course [livejournal.com profile] zoeiona! (There were other people there too whose lj usernames I don't know - please tell me and/or add me as required! And obviously if I've forgotten anyone please feel free to chastise me roundly!)

Much ridiculous spouting of terrible badfic was had, along with wonderful food, about a bajillion Curly Wurlys (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] freedomdarkness, whose teeth have the great misfortune of working in a sweet shop) and some real-life witch hunting, in which to be too keen was also an indication of being a witch, apparently.

I come bearing gifts: today's fic rec!

The characterisation in this fic, while humorous, is also so believable that it makes it even funnier; the childishness in how big, bad Steve behaves compared to Danny's relative maturity and patience (well, for Danny) really gives this fic a sense of the sublime in the absurd. Not only does it have a wonderful emotional weight to the relationship between the two of them, but it does so without compromising the hilarity of Steve refusing to play mini golf if he doesn't get to win.

Just Like the Saturday Morning PBS Kids Lineup by [livejournal.com profile] moonythestrals. Summary: The speed of Steve McGarrett's age regression as a function of time exposed to Danny Williams, chart to follow. Plot is tenuous, snark is aplenty.

When discussing what I was writing with [livejournal.com profile] katsideswide this evening:

Amy says: This sort of scene is the sort of thing I just get writing and writing. It's nice
Amy says: (of course, that makes me worry that the tough-to-write stuff is not as good, but I guess that's where editing comes in.)
Katnip says: it's important to get it down. worry about the niggly bits later
Amy says: I'll finish eventually (I hope! Or maybe it will go ON AND ON FOREVER, more and more things always happening, until i am old and creaky!)
Katnip says: wow! o_O
Katnip says: nuu! but then it shall never be published and landon's fangirl army shall never be
Amy says: and they will never write Landon/Felix invisisex stories!
Katnip says: ...invisisex?
Amy says: invisible sex
Katnip says: ...how? o_o
Amy says: well, Landon can do illusions, right? So they could have sex in public and nobody would know.
Katnip says: i could see the point with visual porn
Katnip says: oooooohhhhh
Katnip says: *clicks into place*
Katnip says: ...hell yes!
Katnip says: ...why did that never occur to me before!
Amy says: i have no idea, it seemed fairly obvious to me
Katnip says: my smut brain is obviously broken
Amy says: XD
Amy says: seriously, that is one of my big anticipations for if fanfic was ever written, that somebody will write that story
Katnip says: wow. just, wow.
Amy says: you totally want it now, don't you
Katnip says:

I got tagged by [livejournal.com profile] ionaonie. Thanks honey! And also, thank you so much for my virtual rose! I love you too :)

So, now I am charged with "picking 15 people and give them the "you make my day" award. If you're picked, you are charged with picking 15 of your own."

I'm not sure I have fifteen, or at least not fifteen who use lj, but I'll give it a go :)

So today I 'met' some people, a girl on my course and a guy from down the hall a little way, and so it begins. I don't think they're going to be my best friends or anything, but it's hard to meet people who don't drink or go out partying all the time when they don't go out all the time and neither do you, naturally :) I'm going to Movie Night tonight, which someone said may be Brokeback Mountain, so hopefully I'll meet some stay-in types there (assuming anyone else goes, which would be typical!)

I also went to a poster sale today and bought these art deco posters. The picture for the second one is rubbish, but it's the best I could find on the net :)

I also met Sara Copsey from Challoners today, randomly! It turns out she dropped out last year and now she's here as a first-year. How bizarre!

Also, go to [livejournal.com profile] summercon to see my banner in use at the top and contributions from me to the various challenges. It's a fun, online convention! Take part!
