Hey honeybunches! I am sorry it's taken me so long to post again here (as ever), but my only defence is that I have been very busy this last week, doing stuff and junk. (Yeah, that important :D)

I've been busy this week!

It was lovely. There were seven of us for dinner down in town, and it went really well - good conversation, never an awkward moment where nobody had anything to say. They bought me loads of chocolate (bad for the weight-loss thing) and necklaces (good for my magpie tendencies) and it turned out Myv had got her friend to bake me a birthday cake, which was lovely, and that was what all the sneaking around was about. After dinner our friend Dan suggested this lovely cocktail bar which also does non-alcoholic versions of things, and we went there for a while - it was a gorgeous place, really atmospheric and comfortable. So I had a fantastic time.

Wednesday was Lou's birthday party, because her real birthday is really the day after mine, so it made sense for her party to be the day after mine. We went out and about and had a really good time then, too. The funny thing about Lou is that the drunker she gets, the less she speaks and the more she uses sign language instead (she was taught Macaton, basic sign language, as a child), so you have to make her talk, but having sign language conversations with her over the table was hilarious!

Thursday night I went over to Lou's house with Sam for a pseudo-sleepover, which was really nice.

Then on Friday I came home for Easter with Sam in tow, Saturday we went to the British Museum in London to see The First Emperor exhibition - the Terracotta Army is being displayed in London for possibly the only time ever outside of China, though this is the last week - but the queue was SO LONG, literally around the whole entrance hall, that we couldn't see it :( I guess I'll just have to go to China. More annoying is that Dad and co. went to see it without me while I was at uni despite knowing that I wanted to see it, and would be home at some point during its run. But we wandered around the museum anyway, and I found a great book on Renaissance magic and demonology, which I have yet to read.

Yesterday I went to lunch with my ex-teacher from high school, Mrs Lawson, who seems very well, and had a lovely time. If it weren't for her, I would never have trult believed I could do this writing thing properly - the most inspirational teacher I have ever had. Put it this way, if my book ever gets published and I get my six copies, one of them is for her.

...all this really boils down to is that I haven't done any writing for much too long, and I'm sort of making excuses with myself for being so slow. I should be faster than I am, or something - if I ever got published I would have to be faster. Which is why I've decided to void my New Year's Resolution to get the manuscript off to agents by the end of the year. I'm just not convinced that I could manage the publishing thing while trying to finish my dissertation and degree at the same time without dying of overwork. "Oh, sorry Mr Publisher, no book for you - I have to revise for my exam." So I'm going to delay until I finish university, and then - publishing time! Hopefully :D And by then I might have two books in the series, which makes people keener than just having the first book in a series, so that could help, too.
