I totally forgot to post about it here at the time due to my lameness, but my best friend Susan is engaged! Her boyfriend Steve proposed to her on Christmas Eve. They won't be getting married for probably a couple of years yet, but two days ago Susan asked me to be her Maid of Honour.

My response was pretty much to jump up from my computer and jump around excitedly (she did this over MSN, peoples - welcome to the electronic age!) - because, as you all know, I love weddings and I LOVE organise-y type things, and this means I get to be organise-y!

(Also I get another dress! Girls, you know what I'm talking about.)

This is the third time I've been asked to be a bridesmaid in the past two years, which is pretty impressive as I'd only been to one wedding before at all. (Although I am starting to feel a little 27 Dresses about it all.

So basically this boils down to YAY!

And now for the pimpage: my friend [livejournal.com profile] girl_starfish has started up an lj comm called [livejournal.com profile] fictionalstuff for people who write original fiction, as a sort of support group/critique group. If anyone's interested in joining, it's small but friendly! Please come and join us!

120,000 words is a total guesstimate, but I do still have to write a few more parts before the Exciting! Conclusion! so it's probably a good one. Anyway, yay!

Today I'm going to go see Canterbury Cathedral down in town. If I don't go I'll be annoyed at myself later, even if I do feel like being a bit of a hermit today. Maybe go to the cinema to see Indy IV, too, but maybe Ill do that later in the week.

Dad told me on the phone on Friday that he and Gail have decided to set a date for the wedding! They're sick of waiting for the housing market, and they'll sort out whatever logistical problems this causes afterwards. Of course, typically, they decided to have it in early November, which is when I told them not to because I'm going to be on placement God knows where, so now I'm going to have to go to Gail Stephenson and beg for help on being close to home for this one, especially since I'm going to have to take a day or two off placement for it and they add up to marks this time. Dammit, Dad! I love you but this is aggravating!
