When I decided to spend today in my flat in my pyjamas doing nothing and flaking out watching movies, having a rotten cold and spending the whole night tossing and turning with two duvets on and trying to escape a stress dream where I kept trying to book tickets to the opera but my computer kept crapping out and then there weren't any but I'd promised my Dad that i'd take him was not what i had in mind.

Nonetheless, zoeiona and me went to the English National Opera last night (hmm, dream, I wonder where you might have come from!) to see their production of Verdi's Simon Boccanegra, which was very well staged. Unfortunately it seems as though they must have seriously abridged it, because there were these huge chunks of exposition projected onto a screen they put down whenever they were changing the set, which made it quite lurching story wise. It was worth it for £20 though, and I'd definitely go again if they do another offer like that.

I spent the entire night before my interview having nightmares that the trains would break down and I wouldn't be able to get there. Then on Thurday two trains broke down outside of Milton Keynes. But hopefully yours are not prophetic.

Your post reminds me, I promised Mum I'd book tickets for HMS Pinafore this week.

Oh no! Not fun! I guess it doesn't matter since you got the job, but i hope you weren't too tired for your interview.

I'm feeling more human this afternoon but I suspect I'll be having reruns tonight. I always sleep badly when I have a cold. It's like it's mandatory.

Get well soon! Hmm, I didn't know they played abridged versions of operas, isn't the whole point to be as long and soul-crushingly boring as possible?:D J/k, but shortening them is kind of a novel idea to me.

I gather the original was over 4 hours long, so. I was feeling better but then I had to go to Tesco and it seems to have crushed the life back out of me. Boo :(
