Sep. 19th, 2005 12:19 pmMy ankle is almost better today (at last!) I'm still not going to go to the gym on it, but by the time I do it should be safe. So that's good.
Thank you very much to Susan and Kat for an immensely fun night last night on FFXI - we ran around Ronfaure last night killing Orcs together and generally making pests of ourselves ^-^ I loved the way I'd say something silly, like about Erebis being our Mummy and looking after us (Erebis is Susan's character), and then they'd pick up on it and make it even sillier. Thanks guys! Also thanks to Susan and also to her friend James for helping me out with noob stuff and giving me money and a better sword! I now have a gorgeous hat/helmet which looks very fetching. As soon as I level again to 7 I'm going to buy some proper armour to help me not die ^-^
Anyway, I wanted to ramble about a thought I had today when I was bringing the shopping in with Dad. We'd been talking about Mum, and I suddenly realised as I put things down on the kitchen floor just how much this year has changed. I've lost so much. You see, the dog would always come and sniff at the bags as we put them on the floor and generally get in your way, and I miss that. I've lost Mum's bedhair, Sparky's unmistakable smell (not sure if that's good or bad!), the things Mum knew about me growing up that I was too young to remember... and now I've lost all of you, at least temporarily. It feels like everyone but me is moving on, and I'm stuck in limbo, going neither forwards nor back... I still expect the back door to be unlocked, because we left it that way most of the time so we could let the dog out more easily, and now it's always locked, and I'm always surprised... I'm not sure it's something other people can really understand, but then again that might be my own conceit... who knows?
