Following the lj tradition of posting the title and first line of the first post of each month in the past year, here is my year in review!

So I don't often use titles it seems... )

New layout

I went to the lj comm [livejournal.com profile] freelayouts to see what they had and found this beautiful layout of a lily, by [livejournal.com profile] minty_peach. I'm really loving it right now - I liked my old one, but it's nice to have a change :) What do you think?

Anyway, if you wanted a new layout, this is the place to go. Loads of beautiful graphics work - makes me wish I knew more coding! You have to join to see the actual layouts, mind, but it's worth it, just don't add it to your flist if you don't want the clutter.

One: this is SO US. It made me laugh.

Two: [livejournal.com profile] astolat just posted up a set of Word macros you can use to convert anything written in a Word document into HTML, which I helped Beta test. They're really good, except they don't work properly with my version (97), because it is too old and cannot move fast or drive shiny cars :( Anyway, they're relatively easy to install, so. Give it a go, i you think they'll be useful.

I've been rereading my lj in the PDF file from my LJBook, and I reread 2004-05 yesterday, over the period where Mum died and I was dealing with it, and I remembered (though I hadn't really forgotten), by reading your comments, how wonderful you all were and how much I love you. Seriously, it made my day. So thank you for being fantastic friends.

I've been playing around with the LJBook thing I linked to in my last post, used it on my writing journal, [livejournal.com profile] rainbownumber7, and it came out looking awesome! I'm doing some edits to bring stories up-to-date with newer edits/versions, and correcting typos and formatting errors, but I was wondering - would anyone like a copy of the file when I'm done? It's easy to read, looks great, and I'm in love with it.

If you'd like a copy, you're more than welcome. Just ask. It has almost all of my writing in it - and will have all of it up-to-date when I make the finished file. What do you think?

Whee! When I hit 25k I have promised myself smut of some sort.

Okay, so basically LJ, having failed at an outright banning of people they deem as 'guilty' of doing things that risk them as a service (ie, fans who are writing/drawing things they are getting pressure to remove), they are now doing it by stealth. And this is unacceptable, let's face it. So, as well as [livejournal.com profile] fanarchive, fans are now organising to create a new journalling service, run by fans for fans, which can't be controlled by outside people. There's a lot of information out there, so here are some useful links, if you want to read up on it. I'm definitely keeping track of all of this.

A nifty thing that makes your lj into a pdf file so that you have a back-up. Also printable!
