Since the Slash Study Day I've really been into fandom again, really feeling how much I love it, because going there was so much fun. I've downloaded loads of music videos off the net, which is great - remind me to show you all when I see you next :)

More importantly I've been reading loads of Stargate Atlantis fic because everyone said it was great and it really is, but now I have this huge and unending desire to watch the show and I can't just buy it now because I have no money and the Starbucks manager lady still hasn't got back to me about when to start (argh.) So I'll just have to hanker after John and Rodney from afar (boohoo!) Hopefully will be getting the boxset for my birthday, preferably the American one, simply because from UK Amazon it's £41 but from the USA it's £26 INCLUDING SHIPPING! Like, what the hell? That's amazingly fantastically cheap! Is it just the good exchange rate, or has the world gone mad? And how long is it until I can get my grubby paws on it? (Hopefully just 18 days...)

I joined The Sentinel mailing lists meaning to become more involved in the fandom, but I've found that I'm actually sort of a fic-reading loner fan who likes to meet people in person but is very bad at forums and stuff. The only one I've kept up for any length of time is the Britpicking forum over at FictionAlley, because I like everyone there so much andtopic ranges wildly and crazily all over the place. So maybe I should just shut up and get on with being a fan. But maybe you should all come do it with me, huh? (My Dad did suggest that we take my possible laptop and set it up so we're playing two things at once at my party, to which I said no, but if we did it would be called AmyCon and rock so much greatness etc.)

It's coming along nicely now, and the characters feel different to me (which is what I wanted, o'course!)

Had a nice, quiet day watching sci-fi and not doing much. I love The Dead Zone, but I hate Johnny's ex-fiance Sarah (who is now married to the lovely Walt), because she messes the two of them around so much. If she'd just make up her mind they could all be happy, instead she is so indecisive that they're all miserable. Go away, Sarah!

Could everybody please keep the 25th/26th of March open for a possible party? My Dad and Lucy may go to visit my grandparents that weekend, which means I can host a sleepover. Yay! Sweets and sci-fi, lovely.

Today I had a maths lesson and then spent the rest of the day in a wasteful stupor. Shoulda done some more revising, probably, but am useless lump so didn't. Woe is me. Instead listened to music, sat around staring at wall, and watched last episode of Season One of The 4400. (It's only a five-part mini-series, the first season.) But this evening (see wordmeter) I have written about 1000 words more, so yay for writing! This part is being hard to get through, because I have to get Toby to hang out with John, which is hard because he's not a very social person, but there you go, John will just have to try harder, won't he?

EDIT: Fuckit fuckit fuckit, it's Finn and Eli all over again like CLONES and why can't I write a different sort of character? When did Toby get so bitchy and sharp? He's supposed to be polite and not good at people, not, well, Finn. And when I try to edit it it doesn't work any more. WHY AM I A ONE-TRICK PONY? GAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

Last night I went to see Ian McKellen as Widow Twanky in Aladdin. Fantastically funny, really rude, and by God he has amazing legs! What the hell does he need them for? They look twenty-year-old woman legs, they're so nice! Nearly died of laughter. So good. If he does it again next year, do go and see it, I beg you.

They also made a joke about having Rob Lowe as the Emperor instead of the guy they got. All the women in the audience who knew who he is went 'God, please!' I mean, we were in the third row! Think of the great view we'd have got... (this is Rob Lowe, he's from The West Wing:)

My UCAS application is all done-and-dusted, thank GOD.

So today I:

  • Watched the last three episodes of X-Files Season One
  • Watched two episodes of The 4400, which is fantastic, btw, but only a five-episode mini series
  • Cleaned out my guinea pigs
  • Checked Garcia for fleas (we've given him medication from the vet) - they seem to be gone, hurrah!
  • Re-organised my DVD shelf
  • Did a Biology Unit 3 paper, only to find I can't remember the name of those square things you throw to take samples for pyramids of numbers... someone, please help me out!
  • Called my biology tutor, because he didn't come on Thursday and hasn't called (worrying)
  • Had a migraine, took some pills, lay down, got up again and was okay.

BTW, what would people like to do for my birthday party? I'm thinking DVD-fest, as it's easiest, and maybe I can persuade my Dad and sister to go out for the evening or summat. You all have to come back and see me or I will be sad TT-TT

I think I'm almost better. Or at least, I keep thinking I'm almost better and then waking up with a nasty sore throat and a headache and a pink face. What's up with that? I'll be back at work tomorrow whatever, so really, why can't I just be well?

The rest of you will probably give me funny looks as well, like eclaire and pudding_dragon, but I've been reading West Wing slash recently. It's good! Don't look at me like that! I just like Josh and Sam, okay?

Almost finished X-Files Season One, yay? Not yay? It's so goooood... I have more of The Dead Zone after that, which I love to bits, it's sooooooooo good, to put the stress on a different word this time.

Jenny, if you're done with my DVDs, could I have them back soon?

I'm not going to Debbie's thing tonight, sadly, though I want to, because giving all your friends the lurgy is not my favourite way of saying 'Merry Christmas!' So I hope you all have a good time and I'll see you soon. If you don't go back until some time after the end of next week I'm actually finishing work next week, so after that I'm free (and probably won't have the lurgy.)

I did go to work today, though, and was reasonably okay. I get paid, which works well for me and my bank balance, naturally. I missed lounging around at home watching X-Files, but then again I finish next week so after that I'll have time (when I'm not revising, of course.)

Damn, I want more Terry Pratchett... Thud! was so good, I love Vimes. I think the City Watch books are my favourite. Or maybe the Death ones...

    So I'm still sick...

Doctor called today (no appointment times left) and said it's viral so I just have to wait it out. Some of the time I'm fine and some of the time I'm hacking my lungs out without even any yuck to show for it. Dry coughs are so pointless. I mean, phlegm is horrible, but at least you're coughing for a reason.

So I've been watching a lot of X-Files, and I love Mulder. He's my favourite. If he was real I'd stick to him like a limpet sticks to another limpet that it likes a lot. I haven't been doing any writing while I've been sick so my metaphor engine is on stupidity-drive. My head hurts when I watch a screen for too long. I came online to check Ikea to see if they have a nice stand for DVDs, one which is basically a set of shelves because boxsets are wider than regular DVDs and don't fit in regular DVD stands. I'll let you know if I find one :D

BTW, people who got back to me on the presents inquiry, I'd have bought you something by now if I wasn't sick, so bear with me, huh?
