During evening when trying to write action-y sequence: OH MY GOD I AM THE WORST EVER I SHOULD DELETE EVERYTHING I AM GOING TO GO LIVE UNDER A ROCK AND CRY ;o;


...action is not my forte.

Thanks hon *huggles back* It's just kicking my ass is all. It's meant to be a rapid scene, passing quickly, but I'm just not sure it gets across enough, you know? That I'm not skimming too much.

It would probably also help if writing 'Magneto walks' or 'Magneto thinks' didn't feel so silly. Except that for the purpose of this scene Erik is thinking of himself as Magneto and he's the POV character. Silly Erik.

It really doesn't help, for action, that you're probably writing it a lot more slowly than you could read it. Finish, then go back to the beginning and read through. It might well not be as bad as you think.

If anything I have the opposite problem- I find it really hard to judge pacing because when I read things back I know the words too well and I can't make myself slow down and read it at a normal pace. Mostly with this scene I was concerned about the balance of detail to skimming over detail, so how much to show without the reader feeling I've left bits out.
