Feb. 24th, 2006 12:17 pmI wish I had as many friends as
alexia75 TT-TT (Some day I will visit you when I am up in the Yorkshire area, yes I will.)
I think I should write more fanfic. I love fandom, I really do. I've been exploring around fandoms lately and finding how lovely everyone is, and talking to people and feeling like I fit in. (I'm really looking forward, for instance, to next week's Slash Seminar Day in Leicester.) I'd like to be a Big Name Fan, sure, and sometimes I get really annoyed at the absolute rubbish that gets hundreds of reviews and screaming fangirls, but most of what I love is the ethos of the 'place', if I can call it that. Fandom rules :)
I was reading some Sherlock Holmes fanfiction the other day, or rather over several days, and it's actually very very good, on a par with the quality you get in The Sentinel fandom. It's worth reading if you have some idle time.
But really, fans are fantastic. Everyone is really happy to talk to people and all sorts of great discussions occur. I'm taking part in an impromptu huge one on Alexia's lj, which means she should have got loads of emails about me posting on her lj this morning :D
Someday I will crack the fandom scene. Then I will have long discussions with people I only know over the internet, yes I will :)
