A few minutes later: I am very confused. I read the post and just did a search on amazon.com for stuff that would be difficult to find according to the article thing and it all came up fine. Maybe it hasn't been implemented yet? Maybe there was such uproar in a short space of time that they had to scrap the whole crappy idea? Maybe I just didn't follow what they were referring to?
There's been some debate as to whether it may be an algorithmic problem, which they may have sorted out. But it's also really random, what they've chosen, so you may just not have picked the right things to search for. Have a look on Smart Bitches Trashy Novels to see what they've listed as missing if you want to check.
I just found an article on jezebel.com about it and did a little more searching and found that if you know the exact title you want, you can find it, but looking for themes or books about a certain topic is so much harder. If you type 'homosexuality' into the search bar at the top, the first book you get is 'A Parent's Guide to Preventing Homosexuality' by Joseph Nicolosi and Linda Ames Nicolosi. The first few are all along similar lines. This pisses me off so much. Also the fact that people feel the need to write books like this is so damn scary!
