When I was actually reading the book, I was totally involved in it and did not take much time to pick holes in it as I went along. I laughed, cried (a lot), and yelled 'Oh my gosh he ROCKS!' in several places. When I finished it, I read your initial reactions on LJ and then wrote 3 pages about what I thought. There were parts I loved and I think you mentioned most of them, but there were things I was disappointed in as well. I think that the biggest disappointment was the fact that I was disappointed. I had built the whole thing up in my head as this shining monument and I did not want to notice the cracks even though they were there. I kind of want to forget about the epilogue, hate JK for not showing us Lupin or Tonks and really want more information about what happened at Hogwarts for that year and I was sad that Neville, Draco, Luna and Ginny were not given more prominent and well-rounded scenes. That said, I loved the Wedding preparations, infiltrating the ministry, Godric's Hollow and many of the small sections of personal interactions.
I still love it, even with all its flaws. I can't seem to help it. I am re-reading it more slowly now and there were lots of small things that I missed.
