Passed! Whee!

Exam results came out today and I've passed everything!

Stats - 74%
Neuro-ophthalmology - 71%
Paediatric Ophthalmology - 67%
Investigation of Concomitant Strabismus - 40%

The last one was the nasty essay exam I had to do after spending three days freaking out about Dad getting engaged, and the exactness of getting the pass mark suggests to me that they went looking for marks to give me to let me pass, but I passed so I'm happy! That's two 1sts, a 2:1 and a 3rd.

One result left to come out, don't know when, will let you know :)

Woooo!!! Go you :) Those are some awesome results

Thanks :) I worked it out and it means I'm averaging a 2:1 despite the low result, so I'm happy :)

40% is a pass? *jealous* But never mind me, CONGRATS on these results! ^_^

40% is a pass, but not a very good one. Do you know the British scoring system? What you really want is a 2:1 or ideally a 1st, but 40% is only a third-class degree, and not considered to be worth very much.

Overall I'm averaging a 2:1, which is good. It's what I want, so I'm happy :)

I know enough to recognize that 2:1 is good, so well done on that! :) I still have a hard time trying to wrap my brain around this system, though. Having to deal with A's, B's and the likes in school was bad enough!
I was just saying that because I have an extremely difficult exam next Monday, which I only need to pass (this won't count towards my final grade but I need the pass to finish the module). And here in Germany, you only get a pass with 50%. I've heard from friends who had to get 60% to even pass, which I think is insane. But there you go. Weird, how these things differ, isn't it?

[identity profile] tahariel.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess it depends on the type of exam, how much you have to learn for it, how strict they are abut what you need to know... I have to agree, I was surprised when I found out that a pass was only 40% for most modules. But not unhappy :D

Congrats hon! 215 is a shitty exam and most of our year scraped through by the skin of our teeth as well, so well done for passing it and with your good neuro and paeds marks you'll be well set for the summer exams ^^

Thank you! Love you!

Hello

[identity profile] distorted-prose.livejournal.com 2008-02-17 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I randomly found you through the LJ school's directory [Challoner's] and I was wondering two things:
1) Is if I could use your <3 television icon?
2) (And this is perhaps slightly more weird) - could I at least emulate the bio you have at the top of this journal? [My life is a rambling odyssey... etc] Just I haven't found something so concise that I've found I can relate to so well . . .
(I suppose the only difference is that the 'obsessive-compulsive' would be bi-polar for me :/)

Anyhow, if the second request is too weird, forget I mentioned it.

Sincerely,
Emily.

Knock yourself out. I made the icon myself, and you can certainly play around with the bio, but I'd rather you didn't just copy/paste it. Make it so that it represents you yourself, personally, and you're welcome to it :)

Are you still at Challoners? I finished there a few years ago now, but I still remember it fondly :)

Oh no, I won't hack and stick directly, just after the- concise kind of format I suppose...

As for Challoner's, I'm still there - in my last year now with mocks after the half term :/ (Studying English, R.S. and Politics)

Thank you for use of the icon - I'll credit :)

Urgh, mocks. At least I don't have to do those any more. (Or at least, nobody really cares what your mark is anyway - at uni they pretty much let you make your own bed and lie in it, which I prefer to Challoner's constant berating if they don't feel you're doing well enough.)
