Balancing Act
I've been thinking about something Myv has said to me, about the way I work and how much work I do. She says that, at least at the moment, I'm not taking a degree, I'm writing a novel - and to some extent I think she's right. I'm not very good at doing things I don't want to do, and too good at doing the things I do. I need to find a better balance between the two and get work done.
...I still desperately want to crack on with my novel, though.

Furthermore, university is a time to explore your personality and consider who/what you want to be. As someone in the working world now I can safely say make the most of your time at uni because when you leave you will have more than enough on your plate to distract you! My advice would be keep doing the things you love (be they writing/stage managering etc) and just make sure the work gets done in the end and that when exams come up, you plan in enough time for revision (unless you're aiming for a first, in which case, just give up on having a life fullstop!)
I know a LOT of people who wish they had spent less time on their degree and more time enjoying themselves. I know very few people who feel the other way round.
