Title: White
Rating: PG (nothing explicit, but some mental disturbance)
Series: Harry Potter
Pairing: None, Harry and Draco-centric
Category: Angst
Fifth and last of the 'Colours' sequence.

And Harry was white, Harry who had been out here since before breakfast and the sun was setting now and Ron and Hermione would be looking for him but they wouldn’t find him because he had turned as white as the snow, and for the first time in quite a while Harry felt like he was almost clean. Not quite clean, no, and as soon as he stepped back into the school he would be filthy again, coated with the deaths of God-knew-how-many, but for now he was almost white again.

Wow - I finished a series? Me? Really? And in a relatively short space of time too. Well, I'm pleased, I'll tell you that. I really like this sequence.

Actually, that wasn't what this post was going to be about. (Bear with me - I'm terrible for waffling on about things that aren't relevant.) I was going to talk a little bit about the way I rate things.

Let's take the 'Colours' Sequence as an example. Each of the five parts are rated PG, despite the pretty disturbed mental states of Harry and Draco. PG to me means nothing explicit happens, there's no swearing or self-harm or sex or violence, so it's pretty mild. If you're reading my fiction and you're under 13 (when it gets ranked up to PG-13, according to American ratings anyway, but I'm British so there), then maybe you should find something nicer? (Actually, most of my fics are much nicer than the 'Colours' Sequence. But 'Yellow' was written the night both my guinea pigs died - I have really strong bonds with all my guinea pigs - and so it's pretty intense. The rest of the sequence had to match, after I had the idea that led to 'Blue' and so forth.)

When we reach 'R' the characters are swearing at least five times (rating for personal safety against vindictive parents!), sleeping together (non-explicitly) and violent things are happening, but not too graphically. NC-17 is the notch above, when things get graphic, and mostly I stay away from that but occasionally I just go with the flow and that's what happens. But I'll tell you when that's the case.

G, of course, is for pure fluff :-D
