So I;m sort of poking at The Mourning Tree again, as part of joining [livejournal.com profile] wrisomifu (Write Something You Miserable Fuck.) Not yet written anything new continuing from the last place I got to, sadly, but I've reread it and typed up all my snippetty sections, made a tiny request for information from Myv's physiotherapist boyfriend which hopefully will come back soon and I've decided what has to come next. Now it's all a question of deciding how to make dead people characters in the book as much as the living without a) zombies, b) flashbacks, c) out-of-place timeline.

Bugger.

You wanted to make dead people characters?

Yeah. Don't you remember the ghost in like the first chapter? There were going to be more of them later but then I wanted more dead characters than just people, like trees for instance, and the ghost thing wasn't working cos they needed to be more connected to the real world but I couldn't get around it and got frustrated instead. As I said, I'm going on a marathon blitz this week. Maybe I'll sort something out.

Ghosts-as-characters is easier than non-ghosts, I think, because at least the ghost is still thinking and talking - I have to find a way to insert Susie and Greg in a gen-fiction sort of way.
